Final day for catch up

For now anyway... I may fall behind again. Let's start with today's picture, shall we? Okie dokie, here it is.
I know, it;s a little over exposed and maybe not technically the best picture... but it was my favorite of the bunch because, well, look at that expression! My sweet, doofy, hound dog.

And now for Monday's picture, which is going to introduce you to some spinning as well.
Here we have a mini skein I spun up over the last week. It's about 4 yards of lace-weight. I didn't do a wrap per inch count because I was just sampling. I wanted to see how I did with the silk and just have something to enter in the Spindlers monthly challenge over on Ravelry. It started out as this:
4 oz. of Bombyx silk from Blue Moon Fiber Arts in the Raven Clan colorway Rook-y. The sheen and color looks better in the fiber picture than in the spun sample. This was my first time working with silk and I have tons left. I found that the fiber in my fiber hand wanted to bunch up a lot while I was drafting, and trying to tell how much twist to put in is a lot different than wool. But it;s so super soft and shiny, I love it.

Originally, I bought this fiber hoping that in the next round of Nerd Wars (again on Ravelry) we'll have a Song of Ice and Fire team and I can spin and/or crochet something inspire by the Black Brotherhood, and Jon Snow. If not, well, I still have some gorgeous fiber to work with. It's a win-win.

Well, 'till next time!
